Glass Break Detectors
Magnetic sensors may not detect a break-in if the thief simply smashes a window or a glass door. Our acoustic glass breakage detectors respond to the actual cracking of the glass the moment someone tries to break in. The alarm will sound while the thief is still outside – not after he is already walking around inside the home.
Glass break detectors fall into two general categoris – Acoustic and Shock sensors. Acoustic detectors protect all of the windows in a room or area. Shock detectors protect a single expanse of glass.
Acoustic Sensors – Acoustic glassbreak sensors are an important part of an effective perimeter detection system. It is very important to choose the right sensor for a particular application or environment. We offer you a variety of choices for virtually any glassbreak application.
Shock Sensors – Breaking glass produces specific shock frequencies that travel through glass and window frames. When shock sensors feel the wave generated by breaking glass, they signal an alarm. These sensors mount directly on the glass or the frame and give you a product virtually immune to false alarms. Shock sensors can operate on windows with heavy drapes or shutters and they help prevent break-in attempts by providing a visual deterrent to intruders.

DSC glass break detectors employ microcontroller-based DSP technology with wide-band signal processing to provide accurate glass break detection of plate, laminated, wired, and tempered glass, while rejecting common 'bell' or 'ringing' type sounds, and 'white noise'.

DSC AC-100 Glass Break Detector
Acuity glassbreak detectors have built-in intelligence making them 'smart' enough to discern the sound of breaking glass from common sounds found in homes and businesses. With their high-performance microphones and advanced microprocessor-based Digital Sound Analysis (DSA), they can hear all types of breaking framed glass - plate, laminated, tempered and safety - up to 25' away. And with wall and ceiling-mount models, there's an Acuity for any application.

Ademco - Honeywell makes both acoustic and shock sensing glass break detectors. Shock detectors mount directly to the glass, at least 1" from the edge of the glass. These are most often used to protect large plate glass windows in store fronts.
Ademco also offers V-Plex™ compatible glassbreak detectors for use in their addressable security systems. V-Plex devices are installed using two wires for power and data. In addition, V-Plex technology features Point Identification, allowing users to quickly pinpoint the source of an alarm or trouble condition.

5800SS1 Wireless Shock Sensor
The 5800SS1 Wireless Shock Sensor mounts directly on glass surfaces. It provides excellent detection for all types of glass while eliminating false alarms. It is intended for use with ADEMCO’s 5800 wireless systems only. The 5800SS1 is especially effective in acoustically hard, reverberant rooms like kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms that are prone to false alarms. Since it is a shock sensor, the 5800SS1 is immune to the sounds that cause false alarms. Installation is a snap, just pull the battery tab to enroll the transmitter, peel the adhesive backing and mount. There’s no need to open the case for any reason except to change the battery years later.

IntelliSense Glass Break Detectors
|
|
Recently the glass break technology has been improved to eliminate false alarms from common occurrences. IntelliSense has developed a dual technology acoustic glass break detector. The IntelliSense unit listens for the very low frequency sound pressure wave created by the flexing of glass from a blow just before it breaks. This is called the flex wave. Once it detects a flex wave, it enables a high frequency detector to listen for the tinkle of glass breaking. Since both technologies need to detect the glass breaking, false alarms are virtually eliminated.

GE Sentrol 5885-W Motion Sensitive Accoustic Sensor, UL Listed. 24 Hr Applications
The ShatterPro™ Plus is an acoustic glassbreak sensor combined with a passive infrared motion detector (PIR) for the purpose of eliminating occupant generated false alarms. It will extend acoustic glassbreak technology to occupied areas, allowing these sensors to be armed while people or pets are present. Simply put, when a person enters the field of view of the motion detector the glassbreak sensor is shunted during the period of occupancy. This eliminates false alarms generated from normal noise levels during occupied hours at work or at home. The ShatterPro™ Plus can be wired into a 24-hour perimeter loop, free from concerns about false alarms generated by a noisy environment.

Sentrol Glass Shock Sensors
|
|
Shock sensors are intrusion detection devices designed to detect a glass break big enough to reach, crawl, or walk through. Shock sensors aren’t rated to detect cracks, bullet holes and other small holes, removing windows, or entry via glass cutting without breakage. All Glassbreak sensors should be backed up by interior protection. Laminated Glass will reduce the specified range. Test carefully to ensure maximum detection. Armor coated glass and plexiglass will reduce specified range by 50%, from a 10' radius to a 5' radius. This shock sensor is self powered and therefore will not effect battery life for wireless transmitters.

5150 Glass Shock Sensor - GE Security
The 5150 Shock Sensor is one of the most low profile sensors in the industry. Advanced piezo transducer technology powers the sensor, so no power is needed from the loop. Instead, the piezo generates its own electricity when it bends as the glass breaks. Bending of the transducer must occur for the sensor to go into alarm providing excellent false alarm immunity.
