KX-TAW848 Advanced Hybrid Wired & Wireless Telephone System

The KX-TAW848, designed specifically for upscale residential homes, SOHO applications, and larger small business environments, offers a modular design that allows you to tailor the system to meet your specific needs. The KX-TAW848 is unique in that it is not only a traditionally wired PBX system. It also has the option of adding a robust Mulit-Cell Wireless System to provide seamless coverage within large areas. By adding expansion cards, the KX-TAW848 has the capability to service up to 8 CO lines and 48 phones - 24 cordless or wireless extensions and 24 wired. This system works with single line telephones and up to 4 door intercom/openers.

Similar to the popular KX-TA624 system, the KX-TAW848 allows connectivity with the KX-T7700 series of proprietary wired telephone single-line devices such as FAX machines, telephone modems, and novelty phones - and of course voicemail integration. It is also designed for installation with Panasonic’s current line of KXT7700 series wired telephones as well as older models like the KX-T7000 and KXT7300 series telephones.

In addition to the KX-T7700 wired telephones, Panasonic has introduced two new 2.4 GHz wireless digital telephones that are compatible with the KX-TAW848. The KX-TD7690 is a sleek and extremely lightweight unit styled like a typical cell phone handset that can easily fit into a shirt pocket. It includes a five-line backlit LCD display, a navigation key for CO line selection and features access, and it is equipped with a conventional 2.5mm headset jack. The lower cost standard wireless handset, the KX-TD7680, is slightly larger (more like a “pocketable” home cordless phone) and contains a three-line backlit LCD display, navigation key, CO selection, feature keys, and a 2.5mm headset jack. In addition, both the KX-TD7690 and the KX-TD7680 are equipped with convenient hands-free speakerphones.

Installation is easy and maintenance can be performed offsite, by the installer, with the optional remote card. This dynamic system provides extaordinary flexibility with a new level of clear wireless communications including expanded coverage at a great price.

  • Caller ID with Call Waiting. This feature allows the user to view the caller’s name and phone number on the display of the system phone being called, allowing the extension user to either answer the call or simply let it go to voicemail. Each extension has a log that stores the information for up to 30 calls automatically. Even if a second call comes in while a line is in use, the second caller’s name and number will be shown on the phone’s display.

  • Direct Inward System Access (DISA). Allows an outside caller to access specific system features without operator assistance, as if the caller was using an extension in the system. This allows users to call into the system to use features including Intercom Calling, Modem Use, External Paging, and Single-Digit Access to an extension. In addition, the module can also detect an incoming fax tone and automatically transfer the fax call to a designated extension. No separate dedicated fax line is required, saving money for the user.
  • Door-Phone/Door Opener. For added convenience and safety, the systems supports up to four Doorphones and four electrical contact closures. So if a visitor presses a Doorphone at any entrance on the premises, a distinctive ring on all phones announces them inside. The person inside can then speak to the visitor from any phone and even let them in by dialing a code if the system is connected to an automatic lock or door-opening device (or even a driveway gate).
